A HUGE thank you to all who contributed to our backpack drive! For weeks it’s been an incredible sight at our office seeing you drop off backpack after backpack, each one brand new and filled with all the supplies required to start the school year. We know it not only takes money, but the gifts of your time and effort to do all that shopping and lug those backpacks to our office. Your efforts are appreciated more than you know.
Thanks for making it easy on our staff, too. Because of your tags and stickers, we were able to match up every backpack to the right student, then line them up in our conference room under the names of the case workers who would be distributing them. We marveled at the adorable ones for our little guys, and how heavy the ones were for the older kids.
Because we protect the privacy and confidentiality of children in our care, we can’t show you all the happy faces of students when they received their very own, and special, backpack, but we can report their huge smiles. Gone were their worries of that first day of school unprepared and feelings that no one would care.
We’re also happy to report that every single student has their own new backpack and supplies, thanks to you. We’re so grateful to live and work in such a generous and caring community that shares our belief that every child is special and deserving.
