We wish you the happiest of holidays from all of us at Shelter and thank you for making the season memorable for Shelter’s children, youths, and families!
Between COVID and the staff shortages we share with the country, and the ups and downs of social services, it hasn’t been an easy year. Yet, because of you and other members of our Shelter family, we have accomplished so much!
Children 0-5 in our Healthy Families program will never know the trauma of abuse. They are being raised in safe and loving homes.
Through our other programs, children and older homeless youths sleep safely at night without worrying about what the morning will bring. Families have been reunited, hope has been renewed, and those who were lost have found their way.
Because of you, those in need have warm clothes for the winter and warm-weather clothes for summer. Students have been fully equipped with backpacks and supplies for school. Families have been able to put food on the table and keep their utilities on.
No birthday, graduation, or national holiday has gone without recognition and a special celebration. From a birthday present to a toddler to the high school prom ensembles and laughter at our holiday party, happy memories were made for all.
Though every story is unique, our clients who have experienced trauma share a lack of self-esteem. One of Shelter’s goals is to reinforce how worthy they are and deserving of our support. Sometimes it may seem as if their journey is through the darkness, yet because you care, they see a light shining through and know they aren’t alone.
We hope knowing how much you have changed the lives of children and families and our most profound appreciation adds to your happy holidays!
