Transitional Living Program

Shelter, Inc.’s Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a program for older adolescent males.  TLP provides a home-like setting where residents advance their education and learn to work and live in the community.  TLP offers a safe and caring environment while preparing residents to be increasingly self-sufficient as they continue their growth towards adulthood.

Our experienced and professional counselors strive to motivate residents and facilitate the learning of basic living and social skills such as:

  • Advancing their education to obtain a high school diploma or GED
  • Obtaining and maintaining employment
  • Developing interpersonal relationships and socialization skills
  • Menu planning, grocery shopping and meal preparation
  • Accessing and managing medical and dental care
  • Obtaining and maintaining a checking and savings account
  • Establishing credit

Our program provides:

  • Purpose/Success driven in-house mentoring
  • Health screening for each resident by Shelter, Inc.’s nursing consultant
  • Physical examination by a medical doctor
  • Vision and dental care
  • Clothing, prescription drugs and personal hygiene items
  • Career preparation
